Out from the traditional dowsing rods comes a technology known as, “Electronic Dowsing Rods”. The main difference between the two is that, the classic type of dowsing rods doesn’t require batteries to be operated unlike the electronic dowsing rods. But, electronic dowsing rods are a lot more easier to control and can be operated by almost anyone due to their advance user-friendly technological features.

In the previous posts, Do Dowsing Really Work? We discussed that we humans have a very low frequency vibration of 11 Hz. Since gold items have high frequency vibrations, you need to tune into that frequency level of gold (which can be done by holding a piece of gold into your hand) in order to detect it with your traditional dowsing rods.

Electronic Dowsing Rods

Now, when it comes to electronic dowsing rods, these tools are equipped with advance circuitry that amplifies or boosts the frequency signal several times. As a result, it gives better and more accurate result as compared to the classic dowsing tools. In addition to that, you also don’t need to take hold of a certain piece of gold item because the electronic components already does the job of tuning the tool’s frequency to the frequency level of the hidden target which is gold.

Difference Between MFD and LRL Dowsing Locators

Electronic dowsing rods are more commonly known as, “Molecular Frequency Discriminator or MFD”. There is actually a huge argument between MFD and LRL (Long-Range-Locators or classic dowsing rods). Some people says that MFD is just an improvised dowsing rod. However, MFD users claims that this tool is “not a dowsing rod”.

Classic dowsing rods actually requires some mental ability of being able to tune up to the frequency vibration of the missing item that is being searched. Other than that, when using an L-Rod dowsing tool, the exact spot of the target can be determined when both of the rods intersects forming an X. This process of detecting is in-contrast to the MFD locators.

MFD locators are used differently from the L-rods. But similarly, you hold the rods with your left and right hand then walk around the surface of your prospected area. Unlike the L-rods, MFD operators doesn’t need to be mentally focused on their frequency vibrations.

When it comes to locating the spot of the missing item, the rods does not swivel around. It’s because when the operator gets near over the hidden target, the electronic component of the tool will send an audible alert similar to metal detectors. So the closer you get to the spot of the hidden object, the more that the sound gets louder.

All I can say about MFD locators is that, it is perhaps the perfect alternative tool to all individuals who simply cannot operate the traditional dowsing tool. However, the price of MFD locators in the market are quite pretty expensive.

Build Your Own MFD Locator

Most professional dowsers claims that dowsing tools can drain your energy a lot. So the more often you use it, your energy also gets drained and as a result, you will end up giving inaccurate results. Dave who is a professional dowser can actually dowse with good accuracy but for only once or twice a month. Thus, if you are a treasure hunter like me who often needs detecting most of the time, the use of MFD locators are better than the classic dowsing tools.

Since most reputable MFD locators that are available in the market today are quite expensive, I have decided to build my own. On my research, I came across Geotech’s Basic MFD Project by Carl Moreland.

According to Carl Moreland, his design has the capability to detect targets that are buried at a depth of about 100 to 200 feet which is incredibly amazing. Although, I’m still in the process of completing this project because I’m lacking one of the main component which is the “ICL8037”. It’s not available in my area so I ordered it online and simply waiting for it to arrive. Once I completed it, I do hope that that my MFD project will work.
